curse of monkey island 3 troubles

ok, first post..
i'm very happy to have found this website...it's a blessing.
i haven't played MI3 for the longest time, mainly, because i lost the cd's.
so i bought it from ebay, tried to load it up, and no go. found the tech problem. it won't run on XP. so i got the scummvm prog.
first off my problem is, can i install MI3 on the harddrive, because i don't want the cd spinning non stop, and for faster play? and how do i go about doing this? on both CD there are some of the same folders?place them together and rename some of the folders, or what?
i get errors, at the cut scene when we take off in our ship with the crew, getting off the island..pretty much in the beginning.

so:
1- i would like to install the 2 cd's on my drive, and run them from there...because i don't want them constantly spinning, and becasue i'm using a laptop, and don't want to stress the CD drive, and the noise is killing me.
2- where to drop the files..directory, folders to make...
3- hopefully that will stop the error message?
when the ship sails away, i get a an error message printed in green on the screen.
4- just hope scummvm knows where to find the info from the 2nd cd..?

You need to look at the ScummVm FAQ page. It shows you which files need to be installed on the hard drive for CoMI.:

i just want to know how to install on HD? it doesn't ask to be installed on HD like a regular program, so i have to copy paste the files...i just don't know where, and in what directories..?

Actually, it doesn't matter where you put the directory. It doesn't matter what you call it. Once you create it, you need only copy the files and folders from both CDs into that directory, retaining the same file structure and file names. When you open ScummVM, you will navigate to that directory and access the game.

5.6.1) The Curse of Monkey Island:

For this game, you'll need the comi.la0, comi.la1 and comi.la2 files. The comi.la0 file can be found on either CD, but since they are identical it doesn't matter which one of them you use.

In addition, you'll need a resource subdirectory with all of the files from the resource subdirectories on both CDs. Some of the files appear on both CDs, but again they're identical.
