A Vampyre Story

Postby Fearless Flying Monkey » Mon Nov 10, 2008 9:54 pm

So it's out in a few days (in Europe anyway, it's November 14th and in North America it's the 2nd December). Is anyone here other than me getting it, I think it has the potential to be truly brilliant, the art and story direction looks simply wonderful, your thoughts please :)

It will be quite brilliant, and I'll definitely get it, although the release date is actually November 17. ;) I also hope that there will be an English special edition as well, especially seeing how the German one on Amazon.de sold out already. :P

Actually I've just found a different date for the release :S Play.com actually says the 21st. Wikipedia who have just changed their's to the 31st of October? Even though it isn't actually out yet..... And another game store says it won't be out until Q1 2009.....IGN again disagree saying it's the 21st of November. And this website also says the 21st, although their information goes off play.com's. Gamespy say the 25th. It seems there is no consensus among the web as to the actual release..... The actual site itself says nothing about the release, although MixnMojo agree with you Haggis. I'm confused.....

Yeah, usually those outlets just put a placeholder date up, but the last I heard, Crimson Cow confirmed the November 17 release date, and I follow the news pretty fanatically, what with running The Pumpkin Post. :)

Ah well, maybe that's Germany? Ah well, I'll preorder it off play.com tomorrow and we'll see when it arrives ;)

I'm looking forward to it. I'm not going to preorder a copy of it or anything, but if I see it in a shop, I'm definitely getting myself a copy. It sounds like an interesting storyline, and the artwork really does look fabulous. It has the potential to be a lot of fun, especially with a bat sidekick. At least, I think there's a bat sidekick...

And this may sound like a very stupid question, but I'm hoping you guys will have pity on me and answer nicely, but it is for the computer, right? Sorry if that sounds very dopey, but I'm really not sure :)

Yeah it's for PC, I've not seen it anywhere being announced for other systems though, but there's probably a possibility of WiiWare, Telltale did it afterall.

I think AVS has a little more graphical substance than Strongbad...

Looking forward to it though...though I'll be waiting until after Christmas (because you never know...I always stop buying stuff mid-November).

Man, I really need to upgrade my machine. I don't think it can even run this game.

The system requirements are actually not that steep... even if your computer is a few years old, you should probably be able to run it.

The demo. It's available here, I've just downloaded it, I'll post my thoughts in a bit. Oh and it's in 2 languages English and German. Official Release Date: November 24th, soon after in the USA. It would seem neither myself nor Haggis, suspected that one.

Well, I did, since I posted that on The Pumpkin Post. :P But yeah, before that, I wouldn't have guessed, heh.

Indeed, anyway the demo's quite fun, pretty easy but it seems to make some form of sense to me. Also it looks quite pretty as well, which is always nice, and the voice acting is quite nice. Whilst the demo doesn't give much story wise away, it is seems intriguing what's been released.

I haven't played the demo yet. I might not even play it full stop. You know when you're reading a series of books and the first book has a bit of the second at the end? It seems a bit like that to me. You already know a little bit of what happens in that part of the book/game - I've never liked that. But who knows? I might become a bit too tempted and go ahead and download it.
But I'm getting really excited for the game. I haven't played a good computer game for ages (not even Monkey Island) and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm just hoping that my brother will be here by the time I get hold of it so we can play it together.
And by the way, does anybody know what the release date will be in Canada?

I'd assume that Canada should have the same release date as the US. We usually do...it's usually considered a North American release (though I don't exactly see stores leaping up to stock this one).
I haven't played the demo and likely won't. 455 MB is a hefty enough download, even for the relatively fast speed of the university's internet. I don't really need to bother. I'm going to get it anyways.
