I need voices and backrounds for a fanadventure! help me !

Postby Elaine Threepwood » Fri Jul 29, 2005 10:17 am

Hi to everyone!
I know, this sounds stupid but I'd like to make a little fanadventure with Power Point... Actually you can make "adventures" with that programme, in which you can interact with things or people and have an inventory. You can also put background music and voices in it. So what I need are backgrounds (you can draw them with paint or other programmes) and people that can record their own voices with microphones. (I'd first need Guybrush and Elaine...needn't be professional )
So: don't laugh at me  Does anyone want to help? You can also send me ideas for stories, jokes or puzzles. Nalgati@freenet.de. if they're serious, I'll try to put them all into the final game.
Thanks. hope this works...

Sure, I would help.

I am really interested in voice acting anyway, if you want to send me any scripts, you can email them to me at Paul_Daley@scee.net

So I'd say if it's o.k you can be guybrush. I'll send you some scripts when I have them. But you can also think yourself of some funny lines, because I don't have the story yet.
( I'm pretty sure you'd make a great Elaine, too :D )

Can anyone think of a good title ?

That's good. If you have time, could you make some backgrounds of a ship and its rooms? You can do whatever you want. :D

Like an evil looking ghost pirate ship or a cheery looking guybrush ship?
Should I do this in Photoshop or in Maya?

First I need a cheery looking Guybrush ship 8)
Did you say Maya was 3d? Then it would be better If you would do it in photoshop, because I can only do the game in 2d. By the way: It would be nice if you'd bring some CMI-style in it like the clouds, but you don't have to do that.

Hey, I need your help !!! Do you have ideas for a short story or a title ??(Title is impotant because I've already started but I can't go on without a title !!!). I need dialogues and more voices!!! What locations and characters shoud be in there? I can't decide everything on my own. :(
And when the game's finish, I need a website to host it. can you help?
Thank you all !! :D

I have the first screenshot:
Image

At the moment, Guybrush is just fallin' into the water...(by the way, I still don't have a good idea WHY, do you.? The game should start with Guybrush swimming(or underwater??? he can hold his breath for 10 min 8) ) but I don't have a reason, why he fell into the water)

And that's not finally the title. If anyone can think of a better one that "Return To Monkey Island" just say It I still can change it

Here's the second screenshot:
Image
PS: if you find any language mistakes in that text, please tell me. (my English isn't that good  )

I also thought of bringing the Babery Coast pirates in there again, but I need their voices... who can do that?

I'm a bit confused. How are you going to keep track of an inventory through PowerPoint? Have you written a VB macro to handle the inventory items or does the inventory only apply to each screen? For that matter, how do you get the items in inventory to react to the hot-spots on the slide background? Either PowerPoint has changed since I've used it, or some serious upgrades have been added since 2000. It sounds like some complex code writing at any rate.

P.S. Remember to save your finished project as a "Pack and Go" or those of us without PowerPoint won't be able to play. o:wink:

No, Powerpoint didn't change anything, the inventory just applies to the screen. It's pretty comlicated to do that, because you need a new slide for every single action. (e.g.: If you have a shovel in your inventory, and you wanna use it with a hep of earth, you click on the shovel. Then a new slide appears. It is identic to the slide you've been to before, except for one thing: the hyperlink of the heap of earth has changend. If you click on it now, there's again a new slide in wich Guybrush starts to dig. if you haven't clicked on the shovel before, he doesn't do that, he just sais something like " That's a heap of earth.")
I hope my explanation was understandable  .
Well, at the end of the game you have hundreds of slides... ( I've already made a few little "adventures" with powerpoint, I know it... :D )

*edit*
I need your help again! Can anyone make a background of a small island? Like This one( needn't be exactly the same, I just draw this pic in paint in 2 minutes, it's not very good though  )

Maybe you should slow down and take your time and not rush things. Try and be more patient and draw the island part again with outlines... And actually take the time to do details and such.

You just need to practise, how old are you? Just Curious, because if you're 5 years old I doubt you can draw a masterpiece. I'll have a quick whirl at redoing that background for you, what resolution do you want it in? And 32-bit?

Its interesting, although I don't think you'll be able to create a good quality movie in Powerpoint, IMHO.

Could you do that? resolution's not important just do the highest, you can do :D (I don't know wich programme you're using)
PS: I don't think practising would help a lot, but if don't get any help, I WILL have to redo the backrounds...

No problem. I'll probably have it done by tonight, I'll use my tablet for it which is not on the PC I am on. Could I have some details on what you want in the background? And whats with the A blank sign?

Do you want it to look scary or like a ordinary island?

Will Murrey made an appearance? :D

The background should be in a dark green or blue with a fullmoon and clouds as in MI3. The text on the sign should be something like
" Welcome to (...your name here...) Island. Enjoy your stay." Feel free to add or change other things on the pic. Do whatever you want. Thank you ! :D

I doesn't have to be very scary...wait...on second thought, scary is a good idea, too... :M :M :M Well I didn't want it to be a scary island, but It sounds good. Well don't do it too scary, perhaps abit mysterious

As for Murray, that's a secret  ( O.k, yes, I'd like to do that, but it's very difficult, to get his voice.) I don't know someone like that...I live in Germany and most of the people I know don't speak English, so I have to find someone by this forums...
