HI, I'M NEW!i have a website, http://oldbullet.homestead.com - and on it i am assembeling my artwork for a promotional launch across America. at the moment, i have only one complete collection, which is the Polperro collection. it is a series of six paintings of an old fishing village near where i live in England. although it is not connected to monkey island in anyway, a number of people have pointed out that the paintings remind them of monkey island, particularly Melee.i am interested in making a monkey island comic and if possible, having it displayed on this website. i would appreciate it if anybody could go look at my work and tell me if i have the potential to make a comic that you all want to read.i look forward to reading your replies:Daniel Gill

The pictures on your site are pretty artistic, and one of them did remind me a tiny bit about Mêlée Island. But I am not an artist, and I'll rather read Paco's comic. Perfectly in the CMI style, or Junaid's future comic (Go Junaid & Paco)!Go see Paco's comic here.Ask Paco for advice.[ This Message was edited by: Haxaty on 2001-08-19 13:30 ]

Talent! Yes, I agree. The paintings are rich and atmospheric. There is a rustic quality to them, and perfectly set off by the deep-blue of the night sky.I will tell you true, Only one reminded me of Monkey Island. There were no titles, so I'll say: The one in the lower right DID look like the opening shot in SMI--in front of the SCUMM Bar. The rest look very generic, although the one in the lower left reminded me of a cottage we have here on the North coast of California. Hands across the water, indeed.I have a question: are you planning on making a computer RPG? Or the old fasioned kind with a table, dice and friends? You said a comic-book in your opening post, so I am confused. In any regard, great work.

i am sorry that i confused you. to cut a pretty long story short i am making my new website, which, as you probably gathered, doesn't have much on it yet, although i have alot of work to go on. i am trying to get as many people as possible to see my work. the six paintings that you have seen are based on a Cornish village, near where i live, which is well known over hear as an old pirate and smugglers hide-out. the pictures were completely designed and created with an adventure RPG layout in mind. about fifty pictures were created in total, these six were the outcome. they basically are concept designs for an imaginary adventure game, although no real game in existance. if you like i could put the photo's of the village from which they were based, onto the same page with the pictures, so that you can see!

Please do so. You got my attention! After reading my own post I see that I was a bit (well, maybe a lot ) rude to you.So I want to clear that out (up?), I have a lot of respect for artists/drawers. And I didn't mean to offend you. The pictures look great!I still have problems imagining a MI comic with only the pictures on your site. Could you please (if you have the time) draw a (sketch) comic page? I am sure that we can all help you a lot better than.

thankyou. i apprieciate all of your support and i am probably as motivated as anyone can be, faced with an amazing prospect like this and i am not in any way clueless, when it comes to monkey island. i love monkey island and the productions of lucasarts. the first computer game i bought was the dig, and the first game i ever played was indiana jones and the last cruisade. it was not until the mid-nineties that i discovered that the games that i was addicted to were all made by lucasarts, i'm hooked.as soon as possible, i will set up a newpage on my site, showing all the photo's and back-up work from which the pictures were based. i am on a break from studying illustration at the moment, so i have plenty of time to produce a sketch of a comic page before i go to university to earn a degree in illustration. whilst there, i am gunna go on a mad one and really try to lift this off the ground.

Very nice. I like them to an extent beyond which I can convey in simple words. I'm going to give some constructive critisism here, so don't jump on my back too fast. Consider this.Maybe it's just me, but for a quaint town, it seems pretty...well EVIL.Also, it looks like a thing that would be on the cover of a Korn album.Neither of those things is a bad thing. I really like your art and I believe you've got a future. I also believe that I would love to play on that set for another "Resident Evil" or a Squaresoft game (a bit more cartoonish rather than polygonial?). I say take your talents to the limit. As for a comic...Drawing people is the key. I think you could do it. A Monkey Island comic would be cool, but it seems that Paco has beat you to the punch. If you want to make a comic base it on another MI game rather than SMI.The above stated information is only the author's opinion and does, in no way, mean anything at all. Thank you for your time.
