Curse>Windows XP>Directx

Postby Sparqz » Thu Jul 05, 2007 12:10 pm

Right, I finally bought Curse of Monkey island a few days ago and have tried installing it. It installed really quickly and well.

The launcher asked if I wanted to install directx 5; I laughed in it's face with my Directx 9ness. So I press play on the launcher and it comes up with "Do you want to install directx 5?".

I clicked no and nothing happened, I press play again and it comes up again "Do you want to install directx 5?". By this point I'm annoyed and eventuallly click install d5, comes up with a screen that has a list of different things all with directx in the name; all of them say installed except for direct3D.

I click install d5, it says its already installed. :-? I also searched my computer, I do have Direct3D.

Please help, I can't get past this wall of non installing to play the only monkey Island I haven't played yet.

@Sparqz: Download and install ScummVM, then copy all the files needed (see ScummVM's Read Me File) from both CMI CD's into a new folder on your hard drive, start ScummVM, chose "Add Game", select your CMI folder, and bingo! ;) No DirectX needed!

Click "Options", then go to "Graphics", check "Override graphical settings", "Fullscreen mode" and "Maintain aspect ratio". You can do this directly in the ScummVM menu to play all your games fullscreen, or in the game's options.

Or use Alt + Enter if your particularly lazy and can't be bothered messing with options :D

Ach! I am a fool, and need some SCUMMVM help. Not to sound like a complete dumb-head, but I'm having issues with the copying of MI files onto SCUMMVM!Can someone give me a hand? I need a simplified run-through.

THANKS!
*EDIT*
Whoop! NO NEED TO! I FOUND IT! Thanks for the help though, everyone here!
