The Humble Indie Bundle #4

Postby HaydenWCE » Sat Dec 17, 2011 10:13 am

For those of you who may be living in caves or under rocks, a fourth Humble Indie Bundle is now up for sale, and it is undeniably quite an awesome package. The games in the Bundle are:

- 'Jamestown'
- 'Bit.Trip Runner'
- 'Super Meat Boy'
- 'Shank'
- and 'Nightsky HD'

And, in addition to this, if you pay over the average, you'll receive both 'Cave Story+' and 'Gratuitous Space Battles' as well.

And, as though this wasn't enough already, the soundtracks to each of the games have also been made available for those who purchase the bundle (which is actually my reason for dishing out the money for it in the end).

I just thought I'd let you lot here know about the existence of this great deal, because I know we've got some people here who'd be interested in it, whether it be for the games themselves or the bonus music.

Also, for the sake of discussion, has anyone here played any of these games yet? If so, what are they like? Are they all worth a shot? And which of these titles are better than others? Let us know.

Bit.Trip Runner is really fun. Also completely managed to take up way too much of my life. Has an amazing soundtrack though (picked up the soundtrack at that steam sale a month or so ago). It ended up getting pretty hard and I also uninstalled to stop myself from playing it. It's unfortunate that the other Bit.Trip games aren't on PC (other than Beat, which was alright, but nothing more).

I can see the appeal in Super Meat Boy, but I just didn't have the patience for it...I made it through world 1 but it got too frustrating for me after that. All the unlockable characters are cool though.

Shank was a nice throwback to older fighting platformer games but I just couldn't get into it (I only picked it up as a pre-order b/c there was a good deal with it and Deathspank).

The others I haven't played, and don't plan on anytime soon. Cave Story does interest me, but I've got a lot of games I haven't played yet (and I'm not even counting my gigantic shelf on GOG).

Did you happen to catch the Indie Music Bundle on American Thanksgiving weekend (I think that's when it was)? It ended up being a pretty sweet deal...21 CDs (either from games or by game music composers) and considering some of them go for $10 regular I was quite happy (even if I did end up only putting about 7 onto iTunes).

No, I didn't actually, and I'm kicking myself because of it. I don't know exactly why I didn't buy it at the time (I think it may have been the fact that I'd already gotten my hands on tons of new music, and thought that I didn't need any more at the time), but I do know that I'm regretting it now.

Oh well, I'm sure I'll collect quite a few more soundtracks from future bundles anyway, so it doesn't matter too much.

Edit: And now the soundtracks of the 3rd Humble Bundle have been added (along with the games, of course o:D), which has now softened the blow of missing the Indie Music Bundle.

There's a new Indie Game Music Bundle out, in case anyone wants to know. I'm picking it up when I get home tonight.

I will most definitely be buying it; not gonna have a repeat of last time.

You might also be interested in the Indie Gala Bundle, Augustus. I'm not too sure whether I'll be buying it, though, as I'm not overly interested in any of the games, and I don't know what the music is like either (and I'm a little too lazy to go seeking out samples for all of it).
