A mixed bag Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (6)
Here are three small updates all combined into one tasteful newspost. First off, the comments for the new Fan Art Gallery section has been upgraded to match the news comments, so you can use <a>,<b>,<i>, and <u> HTML tags in them. You can also edit them and unlike the news comments there is no time limit on the edit feature.

Secondly, due to personal reasons I won't be able to answer emails again until late January. That means if you send me an email from now on you won't receive a reply until late January. That of course also includes in-joke, error, refference, and secret submissions. If there is anything urgent regarding the site then please email Paco.

Lastly, due to the nature of the comments posted to the article "Why I Love Guybrush and MI" all comments in connection with that article have been deleted and article comments in general now have to await approval before being added to the site just like the articles. You can thank a very immature person for this. Maybe it should require a WMI account to post article comments?

Soundtrack CD in Europe Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (2)
It is now possible to buy the "The Best of LucasArts" soundtrack album in Europe. The cd, which has so far only been available in the US and Canada, features 21 musical pieces from classic LucasArts games. Many of them come from Escape from Monkey Island. You can purchase the cd from synSONIQ in Germany, which seems to ship to all European countries, at a price of € 35.95. Pretty expensive, but at least it's available.

A winning punch Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (8)
It's time once again for a new punchline strip and to reveal the winner for the last one. The winning puchline was submitted by 8 of 12 and you can check it out here.

We chose that one because it is simple and it fits the situation well. We hope you agree with us and check out the new strip :)

Entertaining Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (1)
It seems that "The Entertainment Pack" with upgraded versions of Grim Fandango, The Dig, Full Throttle, and Sam & Max which will work under Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP is already available in the UK and you can buy it from GAME. However, that shore only ships to the UK and Ireland. Let's hope it will soon be available in the rest of Europe or at least at some stores which ships to all European countries.

Bad news to our overseas friends; LucasArts has currently no plans to release the upgraded games in the US or Canada.

The MIAC experience Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (2)
The integration of the old "Monkey Island Art Connection" is finally complete and only two months after we announced it :) This means that we have a completely new Fan Art section for you! Firstly, all the art from the former MIAC have been moved to our gallery, which means a lot of new artists have been added. Secondly, it is now possible for each artist to manage their own gallery. As an artist you can upload new images and edit or delete current ones. If you are not an artist then you can create your own gallery in seconds :)

Although you can upload your images on your own now and don't have to wait for a staff member to do it, the images still need to be approved. This means that they are not visible in your gallery until one of the staff members has viewed and approved it. We do this to avoid any material that is not MI related, offensive, doesn't follow our guidelines etc. etc.

If you have a gallery here on WMI or had one on MIAC then you should have received an email which tells you how to get access to manage your images. If you haven't received an email then we probably didn't have your email address or it is no longer valid. Please contact me at if that is the case.

The Fan Art Gallery has received many other small improvments and more will be added, so check it out!

Although I have been working hard to get it all done, I have been unable to finish all I had planned, so some of the coming features will be a F.A.Q. for the gallery and some way of seeing which fan art pieces are new. The comments will also be updated like the news comments recently were.

Check it out now and if you find any bugs then please report them to me as soon as possible :)

LucasArts updates Posted by: Paco | Comments (2)
LucasArts has updated their 20th Anniversary website with something nice for the Monkey Island fans. In the LucasArts Theatre you can find a high quality version of the Curse of Monkey Island trailer, be sure to check it out. The LEC history website is also updated with part 4 which features Escape from Monkey Island.

The new MIAC Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (4)
While the old "Monkey Island Art Connection" has closed down and merged with us (and the merger is very, very close to being complete) a new "Monkey Island Art Connection" has opened its doors. The new site, like the old one, is run by Haggis, but the content differs quite a bit.

The site is no longer a database of Monkey Island fan art, but a place for MI fans to discuss art by renowned artists such as Rembrandt, Rubens, Da Vinci, Vermeer, etc. Check it out and read the opening statement by Haggis!

Entertainment Pack Posted by: Haggis | Comments (0)
Good news, people. A news post over at Adventure Gamers tells us that LucasArts is going to release a new games collection, suitably named The Entertainment Pack. It will have the adventure hits Grim Fandango, The Dig, Full Throttle, and Sam & Max. Although there are no Monkey Island games, this should be good news, since we all like adventure games, right? And the best thing is, that the games will work under Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP, without ScummVM or any other tool! LEC, we love you (even moreso if you'll do this with Monkey Island too).

Another hint at MI5 Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (4)
The latest issue of PC Zone features an interview with LucasArts' PR Manager Tom Sarris and once again he assures us that Monkey Island 5 will definitely be made. Here is a snippet:

PCZ: Are there any other popular franchises that LucasArts will re-visit?
There'll definately be another Monkey Island game. You've seen four incredibly well-done versions of Monkey Island, and there's an immense amount of stories that remain to be told within that series.

MI2 at #18 Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (1)
Adventure Gamers' list of top 20 adventure games of all times places Monkey Island 2 at number 18. I would have placed it a bit higher myself (like 17 numbers), but give it a read here.

The pirates are coming! Posted by: Paco | Comments (3)
Good news for everyone who's waiting for the coming "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie, because you can now already visit the newly-opened official website (which uses the lovely Monkey Island font). You can view the teaser poster, as well as a brand new teaser trailer for the movie there. Cool stuff, so check it out now :)

Epic Duels game deck Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (0)
Philip has submitted an untraditionel kind of fan game. Actually, it's a character expansion deck for "Star Wars Epic Duels", a board game recently released by Hasbro.

The author himself explains is better than me:

It has Guybrush Threepwood as the main character and Bobbin Threadbare as his minor sidekick. Epic Duels is a game where you are able to pit Star Wars characters against each other in single combat. Han Solo can take on Darth Maul, Anakin Skywalker can battle Emperor Palpatine, etc. But now with this deck, Guybrush can insult swordfight Count Dooku! He can have a breath-holding contest with Darth Vader! Bobbin can even cast a terror draft on Greedo; the possibilities are endless! Well, not endless, but expanded.

This obviously requires the original board game by Hasbro. The file is 521 kb and you can download it here.

Top 20 Adventure games Posted by: Haggis | Comments (0)
The year is drawing to a close again, and that means lots of looking back on the year, and lots of uninteresting overviews. Fortunately, this phenomenon is also known to the great site that is Adventure Gamers. They are featuring a Top 20 list of the best adventure games ever; they start off with Full Throttle, and each day a new game will be added. Who knows, there might even be a Monkey Island game on the list ;)

LucasArts loves LFN Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (1)
A new site named LucasFiles recently launched and it features many LucasArts downloads such as mods, patches, and videos. The site is run by the LFNetwork (which we are a part of in case you didn't know) and LucasArts issued a press release today concerning the website and how much they appreciate the fan network.

The LucasArts Company Store is selling a long sleeve shirt in cotton with nine images of LucasArts characters on the back. There's Elaine, Ben, Manny, and many more.

Check it out here, but remember that as usual it's only available to the small percentage of the earth's population that lives in the US or Canada.

That's not what I meant! Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (13)
We have all been there: We post a comment to one of the newsposts and after we click submit we discover to our horror that we called Herman a hottie and spelled "Elaine" with two "s"s at the end and no e,l,i,n, or e. What is more horrible is that there is no way to correct our mistakes! That is, until now. brings you the new "Comment Feature 3000 ©" which allows you to edit your comments up to 10 minutes after they were posted! "Does it make grog too?", I hear you ask. Yes! Sort of...well no, but what it also does is allowing you to use the HTML tags <a>,<b>,<i>, and <u>. We hope you like it and give it a test spin!

Adventure Series Poll Posted by: Paco | Comments (1)

A pirate's tale Posted by: Haggis | Comments (0)
Oh, yeah. A new fan novel. And this one is quite long. It's called The Sovereign of Monkey Island, and it's written by Neil Joshi. Here's a taste of the action:

‘Now hang on a minute!’ said Carla, ‘you can’t just leave it like this, you obviously need us for something, otherwise we wouldn’t need to be here, you wouldn’t even need to be talking to us at all, we’d just be a piece of random background animation that you wouldn’t interact with in the least!’ Guybrush and Otis both looked at each other, and then both silently decided to just forget that last part and get on with the conversation.
‘Yeah, um, it’s kind of funny how things always seem to turn out right. Like how whatever I pick up and stuff down my pants during my journeys—’
‘There’s a mental picture I didn’t need.’

Be sure to check the enter first chapter, called There and Back Again, and Again.
Also, expect more additions to the fan novel section soon.

A Christmas story Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (0)
Mats Berglinn has written a new novel entitled "A Monkey Island Christmas Carol". The novel is based on the classic Christmas tale "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens, but replaces the original characters with Monkey Island characters. Here is a snippet:

Okay. Well… Hohoho! And a Merry Christmas to you! But Scrooge ignored that and kept walking along the street. After a while he came to a building where his office is. On the sign above the door it have the name Scrooge and Marley, with the name Marley crossed over. Scrooge looked at the sign and said to himself: Ah, my old companion, Jacob T Marley. He was a great man, yes really a great man. He stole from the widows and tricked the poor.

The novel does a good job of placing Monkey Island characters in the Dickens story and it is nice to read a Christmas story with Guybrush, Elaine, Stan, and the rest. The novel consists of five chapters and you can access them all by going to the main fan novels page. Enjoy!

Buy Timmy Posted by: Haggis | Comments (0)
Okay, so it's not the official Timmy the Monkey from our beloved Monkey Island series, but with some imagination, it is. The great people of ThinkGeek are now selling their mascot, Timmy the monkey. Cute. Now can someone make a Mojo T-shirt for that guy?

Christmas is coming Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (5)
It's that time of year again and we here at want to help you get into that special Christmas mood. As you probably have already seen (otherwise, I would like to know how you avoided it) we have given the design a little sprinkle dust from our Christmas wand. (Yes, we have one and no, you can't see it.)

Crackers of course objected to the change since he had to wear a hat and scarf, but we hope you will enjoy it and remember to be nice to each other and give lots of presents to those you love :)

Something to read... Posted by: Haggis | Comments (12)
...finally. Through the combined efforts (heh) of the fan novel team, a new submission has been added. It is part four of The Book of Bigger Whoop, and here's a snippet:

"That must be the lord of the fort," Guybrush thought. He was so frightened he didn't know whether to wet himself or go blind.

Important Note: Some of you guys may be wondering what the heck happened to fan novels you submitted, but don't worry, they will be added. It may not always be in the order in which we recieve them, because some chapters take longer to copy-edit/spell-check. If you are worried about if your submission has been recieved properly, please do not submit it again. Instead, send me a Private Message via the forums.

A dream comes true... Posted by: Haggis | Comments (1)
...well, for the LucasArts fans in US and Canada, that is. The people over there can buy a cool cd with LucasArts music. It seems to contain a lot of Grim Fandango and Monkey Island music, so if you can't get the cd due to physical obstacles, then SCUMM Revisited is still your friend (as long as you don't use it to illegally rip music ;).

On a side note, the BSBC's gallery could use more visitors, and on another side note, they have a new comic, based on Monkey Island.

MI1 outtake Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (10)
You think everything went well when shooting the cutscenes for The Secret of Monkey Island? Well, it didn't. Just like with all movies and games there are a lof of these so called bloopers where something goes wrong when shooting a scene. We dug through our archives and found this little clip which shows that making the game was not always easy for our hero Guybrush. You need a DivX codec and Windows Media Player to view the movie and you can download it here*

* Outtake clip is made entirely by Paco Vink and has nothing to do with LucasArts. The clip is not an original outtake from MI1, but the result of hard work from a devoting fan. The movie file can also be found in the fan animations section

Tom Sarris interviewed Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (2)
Computer and Video Games has posted an interview with LucasArts' PR guy, Tom Sarris. One question touches on the subject of a new Monkey Island game:

You've also got the Grim Fandango and Monkey Island adventure franchises. Will you be looking to resurrect those?

I'd say so. I'd say that they're extremely viable properties for us to tap into in the future, in the same way that we're doing with Sam & Max. There's no reason why we can't adapt those to another generation of games players. I think there are stories that still remain to be told within Monkey Island and Grim Fandango.

Read the entire interview here.

And the winner is... Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (1)
It seems our new punchline feature was well received last month and more than 150 punchline suggestions has been submitted. We have chosen a winner and let me tell you, it wasn't easy! There were so many good and funny lines, but only one could win, and we decided upon one by MikeOfSimianArchipelago. You can see which one it is by going to the new archive section for the punchlines and check the first strip :) You can of course also still read all the other submitted lines there.

This also means that we have added a new strip you can submit punchlines to. The adventure of Guybrush and Crackers continue as they escape from the small island, but what do they find? Offer your own suggestions and read what others have submitted.

A lot of fan stuff Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (3)
We start of today with a new fan novel chapter; Chapter 3 of "I Went There" has been added. It's called "One Just Aint Enough for St. Pete" and here is a snippet:

So I decided to take them up on their offer. So I walked down there until I get to a bridge with a Troll standing on the bridge. “Hey, Private Property buddy go back.” I looked at him calmly and simply responded “I know a lot of billy goats that would love to meet you.”

Read the entire chapter here.

Some new art has also been added. First comes two new images from Neil Joshi:

Hannu Mäkinen's younger sister, Minna Mäkinen, has also submitted three art works to us:

Last, but not least, we have page 8 of the fan comic "Our Super Heroes":

Fighting the grammar Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (8)
Most novels in our fan novel section are very well written, but a few suffer from grammar and spelling errors mostly due to the fact that English is not the author's primary language. We will try to get rid of these errors and to do that we have a new team of staff members; Booga, FaNaTiC, and our news updater Haggis will go through all the novels currently on the site and correct grammar and spelling errors.

These new staff members will of course also check new novels and chapters that are submitted, so if you don't want your text checked for errors please write so when you submit it. Some novels have been submitted in the past weeks, but not yet added and we hope the authors understand that things is a little slow here in the beginning until we get everything running smoothly. Your novel or chapter will be added very soon.

A comic and pirate Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (3)
We have some new fan creations for you today, so pull up a chair and have a look. A new piece of art comes from J.Tingstedt who has a drawn a small, but nice image of Guybrush. The image is based on one of the scenes which didn't make it into The Curse of Monkey Island.

Mats Berglinn, who has contributed a lot to the Funny things, has started his own comic adaption of Escape from Monkey Island. Page 1 and 2 are done and you can find them here.

3 x Elaine = FanArt update Posted by: Paco | Comments (5)
It's time again for some new Fan work, but this time it's special, because it features everyone's favourite pirate princess, Elaine Marley, only.
This first image was made by Gaia and as she said herself; it shows Elaine a little different from the other pictures she created.
Also make sure to visit Gaia's own site here.

The second image was submitted by Monkeygirl and it shows a sexy looking Elaine as well. Guybrush sure is a lucky man ;)
Check it out below:

And the final image was made
It's my first attempt at a realistic looking Elaine:

Monkey Island rocks 2 Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (8)
If you've visited our fan music section you have probably downloaded the excellent "Monkey Island rocks" MP3, which is a great rock version of the MI theme. Eduardo Gouveia, creator of the audio delight, has made an improved version with better drums and a whole lot of stuff I don't know what is, but it sounds damn good!

You can get the MP3 from our fan music section or directly by clicking here. The file is a whopping 6.5 MB, but that also ensures the best quality possible. If you need a player to listen to the MP3 you can download WinAmp for free here. Enjoy!

Anniversary epilogue Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (0)
First of all, the entire WMI staff wants to wish you a happy and scary Halloween! We had a nice pumpkin named Fred with a candle, but Crackers got a little annoyed at him and... well... all we found was a lump of pumpkin meat...

Our 5 year anniversary ended Saturday and we want to thank everybody who helped us celebrate and we hope you had a good time at the party and enjoyed the features. We also want to thank all the sites that kindly mentioned our anniversary and the updates. During the week we missed out on some of the regular news, so here is a quick synopsis of them.

LucasArts have added another high-res background from MI2 to their 20th anniversary site. This one is of Captain Dread's ship at Scabb Island.

The Scumm Bar has posted an article on how to get the old games working using Quick & Easy, ScummVM, and VDMSound. Check it out here. They have also added the Amiga music from MI in MP3 format to their download section. Check it out here

PC Gamer has posted another "Best 100 PC games of all time" list and some LucasArts adventures made the following positions: 9. Grim Fandango, 27. Monkey Island 2, 44. Day of the Tentacle, 47. Sam & Max Hit the Road. has risen from the ashes after they were hacked several weeks ago.

Punch that line! Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (5)
We have another exciting new section for you; The Punchline feature! So how does it work? On the punchline page you'll find a short comic strip featuring Crackers and Guybrush, but the finishing punchline is missing. You can then submit up to five suggestions for a punchline and the funniest will win. You can also see other user's suggestions for inspiration.

What can you win? Your WMI username in a glorious font in the fantastic archive section. You don't want to miss that!

New comic strips will be added from time to time, sometime after a week and sometime after 1½ month. In other words, we will add a new strip when we have the time and think it's time for a replacement. Now, go check it out!

MIAC moves in Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (10)
Today is a very special day as I have the pleasure of welcoming "The Monkey Island Art Connection" to MIAC is moving in with us and will be integrated into WMI. Therefore, the fan art section will receive some major updates and new features. I wanted to have it all ready for today and give MIAC a big welcome, but unfortunatly I have been ill for over a week and have been unable to complete the changes. I promise though, that it will all be completed as soon as I am up and about again :)

In the meantime, be sure to give MIAC a big hug and read what Haggis, founder of MIAC, has to say about today's event:

"Ever since I was a little lad, I dreamt of having a Monkey Island website of my own. Well, not really, but once I got that feeling, The World of Monkey Island became my main source of inspiration. I mean, the site is simply brilliant. Anyway, after a pathetic attempt with pop-up ads (you were warned), I created the first version of the MIAC. Haxaty kindly made a fantastic redesign, of which I do not have a link right now, and then came the crash. The database broke. We were about to give up on it, but then Yoha appeared.

She offered to made a new site. I should also mention that we were already on (that means that one of my dreams came true, hosting on Mojo). And, well, besides a great interview with Bill Tiller, that site never really became as big as in the good old days with Haxaty... (mainly due to problems with the gallery; yes, again). But anyway, I decided to quit. ...but all that great art shouldn't go missing, and I am glad that Dalixam has very kindly offered me this solution. I always loved WMI (the MIAC's first affiliate!), and moving the MIAC to this site is truly the best thing that could happen in this situation. Special thanks go to all of the people who supported the MIAC during its just-over-one-year existence, and I would especially like to thank Dalixam for this joint-venture."

Today it is exactly five years since "The World of Monkey Island" saw the light of day! We are going to celebrate this event with a giant party, presents, games, food, drinks, cake, and much much more. Of course you can't get any of this since this is the Internet :) However, we do have some treats for you as well as we have a new feature coming each day in the following week.

We start off today by getting a new logo and opening the Site History section where you can read how the site started and grew into the monster of information it is today :) You can also see screenshots of all the preceding warned though, you might want to bring an air sick bag.

The schedule for the week is as follows:

Sunday: Site History
Monday: A page of delight
Tuesday: A visual treat
Wednesday: A joint venture
Thursday: Lots of small goodies
Friday: Reward for the patient
Saturday: A line of punching

We hope you will help us and celebrate this site's 5th birthday!

The fans are comi(c)ng Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (7)
Ok, lousy headline, but it's the best I could come with :) Enzo Troiano has completed page 4 and a front page for his comic "The Living Dead Island". ADOLO has also started a new comic called "Our Super Heroes" and the first 6 pages along with the front page is done.

When you view a comic page you will now see a link to the previous or next page. This will hopefully make it easier to read the comics.

Art by fans Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (8)
There's no reason to delay updates any further now that we're back up, so here are three new art pieces. First we have a new drawing from Ado and the quality matches his other creations. I am especially impressed with his use of light in this drawing. According to the artist himself it portrais the always immature Guybrush after one of his countless adventures. Elaine runs to him with mildly worried expression

Next we have a drawing by George M. of Helen Threepwood, the daughter of Guybrush and Elaine.

Last drawing today is by Flame of Dinghy Dog.

Deja vu Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (6)
Well, at least it was only four days this time and not four months, so that's good, right? Right? Anyway, the server had to get a new hard drive and at the same time the web host's router decided to cease working, so that combined caused some downtime.

I'm sorry for the downtime, but we're back now!

Chapter with Murray Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (1)
Lucy Kitching has completed chapter four or her novel "Monkey Island 5 - Operation Guybrush". Chapter four has the delightful title "Bwhahahahahaha! Murray returns! (Oh, and in local news, Guybrush reaches a point of no return). Here is a snippet:

Murray sounds a little anxious, but he mainly appears to be savouring the situation. "That's Governor Marley Threepwood" Elaine cuts in, suddenly feeling indignant. "Oh, just ignore that cadaverous cranium, he's fussing around like that merely for attention" a melodious, soft, Caribbean accented voice calls.

Har har har... Posted by: Haggis | Comments (4)
Remember that April Fools joke by Mojo? Well, someone didn't quite understand what was going on, judging from this page: You can find a "Monkey Island 5 clip" there, which is nothing more than the infamous cutscene to which Dom gave his voice. Not very smart, but funny.

Report from 'Pirates' Party Posted by: Paco | Comments (0)
On Thursday the official Green Light Party of the Pirates of the Caribbean production was held by Disney at its headquarters in Burbank, California. FilmForce has a cool report on the party, with the production logo of Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean shown as well as a production sketch of main character Captain Sparrow (played by Johnny Depp). Check it out!

Update: Latino Review published some set photos taken at the Green Light party last week. There's not much to see, but still worth a mention. Or not.

Space Pirates Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (0)
Chris Ratcliff has begun a new novel entitled "Space Pirates". This is probably the most extensive and well written novel we have had in a long time. It is easy to see that Chris has put a lot of work into it and I recommend you read it. It's very good! Here is a snippet from the init phase:

Guybrush hit a few switches. There was a mechanical groaning beneath them, almost as loud as Wally's. Carbon energy-seeking missiles. He couldn't believe it. There must be a thousand pirate starships out there, and he had to pick a ride with the one who was still using carbon missiles. They were slow. Unreliable. You could knock out their guidance system with even a hint of chaff. And this idiot wanted to use them to take down a type F needlefighter!

Read the complete init phase (chapter 1) here.

Two new images by Sanful have also been added to the fan arts and you can see them below.

New island section Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (15)
It's been a while since a new section has been added to, but a brand new island section has just opened its doors. You can read about the islands, see screenshots from all the locations, and maybe learn something new, so check it out :)

At the same time, we would like to introduce the official "The World of Monkey Island" mascot, Crackers! This cute little parrot with an eyepatch is sitting on the headlines sign as well as the different island signs. We hope you like him and you'll see more of him in the future :) (No nudes though, he wouldn't agree to that.)

As a freak coincidence it turns out that The Scumm Bar opened a similar island section this very same day. What are the odds of that?! You can check out their island section here.

That's right, boys and girls. The Monkey Island SCUMM Bar have a new website design, and although it's not entirely finished, I thought it would be good to make a news update about it. The written word Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (3)
It's time for some new fan fiction and today there are three new chapters for your pleasure. The first one is chapter five of McPirate's "The Beginning" and here is a snippet:

Angus felt painfully alone sitting in a little rowboat towed by a dead ship, and frightfully open to attacks. Miserable thoughts started drifting to the Scotsman. He was now cold, wet and alone, and had depressing thoughts as he wondered if the crewmembers of the Grog Villains Beauty would ever awake from their comas and save him.

Read the entire chapter entitled "The Secret of Monkey Irresistible" here.

The second chapter comes from Brandon Ghislain and is chapter two of his novel "Return to Monkey Island". Here is a teaser:

Next in line was Captain Smirk, the old coot who taught me the ropes of insult sword fighting, followed by the most loathsome midget ever to set foot in the tri-island area: Largo LeGrande. Next to Largo there was a rather snooty looking man who I didn’t recognize.

Read the entire chapter called "Mancomb Seepgood" here.

The last chapter today is the first part of a new interesting novel by Sephi entitled "The Conquest of Moneky Island" Here is a snippet:

It was such a shiny day.the birds were singing and the sun burned down every single citizen who walked by without any protection or just was to drunk to stand up from yesterday night’s fun. Neer the beach where the so called pub was , the owner took a broom and started to clean up around it. In the corner there was something. Or to be more specific somebody.

Tunes take MI Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (0)
The main setting of the upcomming movie "Looney Tunes: The Motion Picture" will apparently be a ruined city on Monkey Island, promising a bunch of Indiana Jones-style sight gags. While this most likely has nothing in common with the games we love other than the name, it's still worth a mention :)

Sun, Nessie, and a comic Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (9)
It is very hot here today and it's almost impossible to do anything productive in this heat when just listening to things melting breaks a sweat. I wonder when the temperature is going to come down. Is this heat a result of us humans polluting and destroying the earth? Are we ourselves responsible for our own torment? Is Elvis alive and where is Nessie? These questions may never be answered or they might be on page 58 of tomorrow’s newspaper. Until then we can only guess... Oh, and Paco finished page 16 of his MI1 comic.

Herman in the novels Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (0)
Chapter one of a new fan novel written by Marty Hooie has been added. The novel is entitled "I went there" and chapter one is called "The Early Years". The novel is the story of Horatio T. Marley told by himself, which is an interesting new take on a fan novel. Here is a snippet:

In my childhood I spent a lot of time playing in a tree house my dad built. Oh boy my brother and I would walk up those stairs and play like we were a in a group of spies. Heh heh ah the good times. But then the tragedy happened.

Read the entire first chapter here.

Also added is chapter two of Peter James O'Loughlin's novel "The Secret of Monkey Mountain". Chapter two is called "On board the ‘Sea Monkey’!" and here is a snippet:

Suddenly, Guybrush realized. If this old man wasn’t God, than this place definitely wasn’t heaven. So where was he? “Excuse me!” said Guybrush. “Yeah boy?” asked Herman. "I was just wondering… Where am I?” “Why, you’re on Monkey Island.” Replied Herman.

The art of novels Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (6)
Hi-Jinx has submitted the epilogue and the first four chapters of a fan novel she has begun writing entitled "The Uncovering of Monkey Island". Here is a snippet from chapter one:

The girl shrugged her own question off and gave her Grandfather another reassuring hug.
"Don't worry too much about it, Elaine. Soon, we'll be back with the most lucretive treasure of all! Your Granddaddy will be one of the most famous men to ever sail the seven seas and your future will be stable as the next govenor of Melee' Island." He petted his Granddaughter's hair as he picked up his hat from the table.

The novel has a interesting and unique story and it is very well written, which makes it a joy to read. You can start with the epilogue and then continue with chapter one, chapter two, chapter three, and chapter four.

McPirate has also finished chapter four, "Compliments to the Chef", of his popular novel "The Beginning". Here is a snippet:

Then with anger, he quickly rallied the crewmembers, and gave them orders to load the six rather beaten up cannons. Angus was prepared to shoot his way past the grand obstacle, he knew that there were only two favourable choices, to escape or die trying! If they where captured, their quest was surely doomed.

Read the entire fourth chapter here.

A new piece of art by J.Tingstedt has also been added to the fan art section. The drawing features Guybrush with his arms around two "friends" and a sneaky smile on his face.

Keep that kilt down Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (0)
Two new fan art drawings have been added today. The first one is from Gaia and depicts Haggis' probably worst moment in CMI :)

The second piece comes from J.Tingstedt and it shows our favourite restaurant owner with one gold tooth, Blondebeard.

The second chapter of MancombSeepgood's fan novel "Allegro Rasputin - Pirate to Priest" has also been added. Chapter two is entitled "Coming Up with Really Neat Ideas. Really" and here is a snippet:

Standing on this testament to the Powers of Heck was Allegro Rasputin- once a weedy pirate, now a weedy GHOST pirate. From the decks, he felt the breeze with a particular uneasiness. It smelt of sulphur, the stink of evil...

More fan novels and art Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (0)
Peter James O'Loughlin has submitted part one of his novel entitled "The Secret of Monkey Mountain" which takes a different approach to Guybrush's life than most novel. Part one is called "I want to be a Pirate!" and here is a snippet:

A few hours later, Guybrush and his family were at the airport, booking the tickets to the Caribbean. “Mum!” Whined Chucky, ”Why do we have to go on a holiday to the Caribbean? I’d much rather go to somewhere exciting. Like Australia!”

David Thomsen has sent me the first chapter of his Monkey Island novel which takes place before MI1. The novel is entitled "The Many Lives of Guybrush Threepwood" and here is a snippet:

‘Um, thank you, miss,’ said Guybrush. He watched as the barmaid bent over the counter to hand him his grog. Her blouse was cut particularly low, and there are some things a seventeen year old boy cannot avert his gaze from. He could see her belly button.

Read the entire first chapter here.

J.Tingstedt has completed a drawing of Mr. Fossey for the fan art section, a character not often used. His cunning yet slightly insane smile is nicely depicted.

Chris has also finished a new drawing showing three pirate skulls against the moon.

Oops! We did it again Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (1)
We just completed a move to a new server. The continuous growth of the LF Network requires new and stronger servers. The move was supposed to go smooth, but we hit a minor problem, which resulted in the site being down for 1½ day. (At least it wasn't as bad as the four months of downtime we had last year :) The forums are down until the latest backup of the database has been fully transferred, which will happen later tonight.

Update: The forums are back up.

Fan madness Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (0)
Usually fan creations are added individually, but we have received lots this week and to prevent another build-up situation, like we had six months ago where people have to wait a long time to see their stuff added, it will all be posted now :)

First, Tom Doyle has written a new short ending for his recently posted fan novel "Monkey Island 2.5: Escape from 'The Carnival Of Dammed'.

Thomas Patrick has also finished part two of his fan novel "The Book of Bigger Whoop". Part two is called "The 3 chests".

Marley stopped talking, and did some heavy calculations, it seemed. "Ah, yes of course!" He suddenly burst out. "Florida Keys! They’re so crammed full of pirates, Buccaneers, and other scum that it is nearly embarrassing for the whole West Indies, and now in the fall, they’ll be dying for new booty, unless the Treasure Fleet is extremely late season."

New fan novel Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (0)
Tom Doyle has written a novel entitled Monkey Island 2.5: Escape from 'The Carnival Of Dammed' and here is a snippet:

So I headed over to the circus tent and asked to borrow their cannon, got into it and was blasted out of it, thorugh the tent roof and right smack into a guard. I grabbed a bone and just as one of them was about to shoot I said "Look a three headed monkey. " The skeleton turned around, I ran off and he turned back round and shot. The bullet missed me by about and inch.

There is a lot of work to do before that dream becomes a reality and a lot of risk that goes with it. Lucy Kitching has finished the second chapter of her Monkey Island 5 fannovel, called "Operation Guybrush". Here's a snippet:

"Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!" Guybrush's petrified screams at the mere thought of so much porcelain, an inhumane quantity that he personally considers the worst possible form of torture in existence echo throughout the Caribbean. As he does so, a pirate on a neighbouring boat, having just suffered the humiliation of losing an insult sword-fighting match very badly, and as a result, having no treasure in his hold shakes his head sympathetically. "Poor guy." the fellow murmurs.

LEC Legal rears its head Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (5)

ScummVM is a program that allows you to play the old classic adventures on newer operating systems such as Windows 2000/XP. The project leaders claim they haven't broken any laws though and are fighting back.

Could this have something to do with LucasArts' plans to make upgraded versions of their old games available from their website?

New fan novel Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (0)
Lucy Kitching has written the first chapter of her fan novel entitled "Monkey Island 5 - Operation Guybrush". Chapter one is called "A (partially) unexpected encounter" and it is very well written, Here is a snippet:

In the midst of a tropical Caribbean storm on the edge of the now rowdy, pirate inhabited and tourist free ("thank goodness" breathed Guybrush) Melee island, our hapless hero Guybrush Threepwood, fresh from a "romantic cruise holiday" (in reality, an action packed tour of the seven seas, during which Guybrush's pirating sprit rather overexcited him, as he kept attempting to pick fights, and more often than not, Elaine had to dash hastily up from the Galley to rescue him!) writes in his ancient diary.

Voice acting Top-Ten Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (4)
GameSpot has published a Top-Ten list of the games with the best voice acting. It's no surprice that LucasArts snags three of the spots. Full Throttle lands on fifth place, CMI and EMI take third place, while Grim Fandango snags the second place. The CMI and EMI page also has a lovely poll asking what actor should play Guybrush in a film version of Monkey Island. It won't be difficult to decide since there is only one option...

Here is a snippet from the CMI and EMI page:

"Who could forget Guybrush and company? The voice acting done in both voice-driven games was amazing, and everyone loves hearing Dominique Armato say 'No! My grog!' or the infamous 'Yarr!' of Earl Boen as LeChuck. Without a doubt, the best voice-acted games of all time." -Irondune"

MIAC closes Posted by: Paco | Comments (4)
Sad news, people. Our friends of the Monkey Island Art Connection are closing down the site, because of serious database problems.
The art can still be viewed here, for only one week or a bit longer.
Of course we don’t want all that great art to be lost, so we agreed to take over most of the MIAC art, as long as it is MI related and as long as the artists agree as well. Since we don’t have that fancy MIAC automatic upload mechanism®, new art pieces have to be submitted via email.
So if you were an artist at MIAC and you would like to see your work moved to our fan art gallery, email us.
I want to wish Haggis and Haxaty much luck with their future plans.

The release of [Star Wars Episode II] brought in a whole new group of LucasArts gaming enthusiasts, and we have to adjust accordingly. We currently have 3 full servers for the network, but we'll be adding and upgrading over the next week to meet the new demands, including making sure we can serve all your File Download demands. Thanks for your patience.

Chapter 6 of Every Grog... Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (0)
Victoria Kidston has finished chapter six of her fan novel "Every Grog Has Its Day". Chapter six is entitled "Gravely in Danger" and here is a snippet:

The cold, glittering eyes seemed to drill into him, following his every faltering step. Guybrush sighed. It would happen just like that too. He was never the heroic type, too bumbling and clumsy to ever be the best. No one would ever write a book, or design a computer game after him, whatever that was...

LucasGames' new look Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (0)
LucasGames has redesigned their site and put up a lot of E3 coverage. Among it is an interview with Simon Jeffery & Tom Sarris which talks about LucasArts' future plans and their upcomming anniversary.

WMI and Tom Sarris Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (0)
While I personally wasn't able to attend the E3 show, Marek of Adventure Gamers was kind enough to ask Tom Sarris a few questions on my behalf. In case you don't know, Tom Sarris is the PR guy at LucasArts.

    1. Is it possible that we will see a Monkey Island 5 in the future or have you definitely closed the book on that franchise?

They are definately going to make Monkey Island 5 since it is their most popular franchise. However, we shouldn't expect it in the near future.

    2. With every new version of Windows it is getting more difficult to get the classic LucasArts games to run. Is there any chance LucasArts will release patches that will make the old games compatible with DirectX or perhaps reprogram the games and release them all in a bundle?

LucasArts will consider doing something like this and they are looking at all options, but there are both financial and technical aspects to take into consideration. (In the Mixnmojo interview with Simon Jeffery he said they are considering streaming or downloadable delivery of those games from their website.)

2.2 How do you feel about the fan-made programs that are in development, which makes it easier to get the classics to work on newer computers?

Tom Sarris was not familar with any of these programs, but after a brief explanation he concluded that as long as the programs make it possible for legal copies to run better on new computers and doesn't promote pirating, he didn't see any problems with them.

The conclusion is that Monkey Island 5 will definately happen, but not in the near future. Also, it sounds like LucasArts will eventually re-release updated versions of the classic adventures in some way. And finally, they have no problems with the fan-made programs that help the old games work on newer computers. All very good news I must say :)

Many thanks to Marek from Adventure Gamers for taking the time to ask these questions for me.

Simon Jeffery interview Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (1)
Mixnmojo had a chance to interview Simon Jeffery, president of LucasArts, while attending E3 last week. The most interesting question for Monkey Island fans is probably this:

Andrew: And what about a new Monkey Island game? Are you guys interested in doing that still?

Simon: At some point in the future, there will undoubtedly be more Monkey Island games. No doubt about that.

The Simon Jeffery drawing was done by our own Paco and Mr. Jeffery loved it :) Read the interview here.

New fan novel Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (0)
The Scottish Dog has begun writing a fan novel entitled "Black-beard and the magic helmet". Both chapter one and two are finished and they also include some drawings by the author. Here is a snippet from the first chapter:

The first dream showed that the pirate Black-Beard got from a strange wizard named Zurgol a magic helmet. The wizard said that the magic helmet can only be used on the top of Doom Mountain, but he didn’t say on which island.I think it’s on Monkey Island.
The second dream showed a group of three people near you in a ship. They were helping you. I couldn’t see their faces but I know that you will meet them soon.

Story of Allegro Rasputin Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (0)
MancombSeepgood has begun writing a fan novel which tells the story of how Allegro Rasputin became a priest of the Church of LeChuck. It's a different approach to writing a novel and it works very well. The Prologue and Chapter 1 has been added today. Below is a snippet from the prologue:

When Vladimir’s eyes fell upon the origins of the nightly disturbance, his mouth gaped open and then his head, neatly severed from his body by an expertly swung (and slightly notched) cutlass, flew into the air, bounced off the ship’s railing and landed with a plop into the darkened sea. If Vladimir had of had any kind of conscious thought at that time, he may have been pleased that his now useless appendage was going to feed a family of four deep-sea Caribbean grouper..

Chapter 2 of forum novel Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (3)
Monkey_Wrangler has finished the second chapter of his fan novel that has forum members as the main characters. Chapter two is entitled "The Monkey Island Legend" and here is a snippet:

The three friends walked out with the crowd into the chilly night. A large algae-covered sailing ship sat out in the bay near the SCUMM Bar. At first Monkey Wrangler was unimpressed. The ship had holes all through the bottom of it, one of the masts had broken in two, and (worst of all) it smelled of monkeys. Noticing Monkey Wranglers frown, Raven Image spoke up.

Voodoo-lady: It’s not clearly but a fully doubt it.
Guybrush: Phew! Say, who is that guy the bartender talked about?
Voodoo-lady: Oh, HIM. I’ll introduce him to you. Excuse me, Mr. Calavera.

Chapter 5 of Victoria Kidston's novel "Every Grog Has Its Day" has been added. Chapter 5 is entitled "Beauty is in the Eye of the Beerholder" and here is a snippet:

Guybrush wandered away, hopelessly confused and disoriented. Sure, it wasn’t the first time he’d sneaked aboard a pirate ship of the undead, but then he’d had a mission, a plan, a reason…
“Elaine,” Guybrush thought, wondering what she was doing right now. It was nearly morning, though the ship was locked in a dense fog, preventing Guybrush from calculating the precise time or their location. All of this was messed up anyway.

Voodoo Lady in trouble? Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (4)
McPirate has sent me this first chapter of his fan novel entitled "The Beginning". Chapter 1 is called "The meeting at the infamous SCUMM bar and it is very well written and quite long. Here is a snippet:

My men started mumbling behind me, and soon they where charging towards the voodoo lady. The effort was useless, before they even had arrived, she had grasped some blue ashes in a pot beside her, and blew it on my crew. The effect was momentarily, and very effective, they abruptly stopped, and greeted each other, as if they didn’t know their lifelong friends.

Forum members in novel Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (5)
Monkey_Wrangler, a regular in the forums, has written a novel entitled "The Secret of Monkey Island - Forum Style -". This novel differs from normal submissions as the characters in the story are regulars in the forums. The cast includes Raven_image, Haxaty, Haggis, Monkey_Wrangler himself, monkeygirl, myself (Dalixam), and many more. The first chapter entitled "Chapter 1: SCUMM Bar: Revisited" has been published. Here is a snippet:

The short man let Monkey Wrangler pass. Inside the SCUMM Bar the mood was joyous. There was loud laughter and lots of talking. There were holes all through the floor where grog had spilled. The walls were covered with streaks of blood (or red dye #2). It was quite crowded and it took some experienced maneuvering to get to the center of the bar. There wasn’t much notice to Monkey Wrangler until he stood up on a table and gave himself a loud introduction.

Some downloads back up Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (3)
Our FTP server for downloads are still down, but until it gets back on its feet I have placed the smaller downloads at Geocities. I have also added savegames for the regular version of CMI!

The files that are still down are patches, pictures, and the CMI MP3s. The files are simply to large to put on Geocities, so if anyone know of a good free service where these can be stored please let me know.

People also ask for EMI MP3s, but they don't really need to be put online because your can hear the music directly from your EMI CDs, you don't even need to convert them to MP3 or anything. iMuse Island has a brilliant section that gives a detailed list of which songs are stored in which files. Check it out here.

As many of you know Tim Shafer worked on classics as Day of the Tentacle, Grim Fandango and the first 2 Monkey Island games. Here's a snippet from the column:

"He helped to create some of the most memorable adventure games of all time. After he left LucasArts in January 2000, he pretty much disappeared, much like Bobby Fischer."

Mojo confesses Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (5)
The International House of Mojo has just posted a long (very long) explanation of their April fools joke. The whole thing was apperantly approved by LucasArts so we shouldn't expect any lawsuit :)
And to those who still wonder, yes, it was Dominic Armato doing all the voices.

As a nice ending they have posted three additional MP3s. The first one is the "Return of Largo" cutscene music, the second is the "Puppets Reunited" music, and finally there is an MP3 containing unused dialoque. This file is hilarious! I can't stop listening to it :)

MI5: An April fools joke Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (7)
As many of you suspected the MI5 box art we posted earlier today was fake. We assumed the sound files posted on Mixnmojo was fake and part of an April fools joke, so we decided to play along and make our own April fools joke :) I hope you're not too mad at us :)
The fake box art was created by Paco, but I think the design of it is much better than the box art for EMI. LucasArts should use this when they make MI5 for real :)

Also, Mixnmojo just posted the third leaked sound file from MI5 and with that comes clarification. Just as we suspected, the sound files were fake and a very elaborate April fools joke by Mixnmojo and Dominic Armato. The last sound file is hilarious and you can download it here.

Monkey Island 5 box art ? Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (15)
As you know, I have been very sceptical about the sound files that have appeared recently and are supposedly from Monkey Island 5, but I just received an email which puts a damper on my suspicions. The email contained a small image, which supposedly is an early draft of the MI5 box art. The image is very small, but you can make out that the title of the game is "Return to Monkey Island". This is most likely a working title, which will change later on.

The email comes from an anonymous sender, but the address appears to be from a reliable source. Whether this is the real thing or not only time will tell, but it sure looks real to me.

Another MI5 sound file Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (4)
The International House of Mojo has published another sound file which are supposedly from Monkey Island 5. You can download it here.

This sound file should be from a cutscene that will be shown at this year's E3. The scene includes Guybrush and Largo LaGrande, who many people had hoped would return in a new MI game.

The International House of Mojo says they will receive more sound files in the coming days, so stay tuned!

If this is an April fools joke or not is still uncertain, but the quality of this latest sound file is very high, which indicates that his may be the real thing!

Monkey Island 5 ? Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (4)
Our host, The International House of Mojo, has been receiving mail from an anonymous person who not only claims but insists that a 5th Monkey Island game has been under production at LucasArts for the past year. The person sent this sound file as proof. The voice clearly sounds as Dominic Armato and it is not taken from Escape from Monkey Island as Guybrush doesn't say those words anywhere in the game, but the voice may still be fake and done by someone else.

That the game has been in production for a year sounds a bit questionable though. That would mean they started just four months after the release of MI4. This is possible, but unlikely.

The International House of Mojo says they will receive more 'leaked' sound files over the coming days, so stay tuned!

The news will of course appear here as well :)

This may also be a cruel April fools joke by Mixnmojo and Dominic Armato :)

Hulabee Games released Posted by: Paco | Comments (0)
Hulabee Entertainment, the children's software company of Monkey Island creator Ron Gilbert, has released two new games for purchase.
First there's Moop and Dreadly: The Treasure on Bing Bong Island, a pirate adventuregame for kids. And the other title is Ollo in the Sunny Valley Fair about a bouncy blue ball trying to catch an escaped giant tomato.

Both games were written by Dave Grossman, who also worked on the first 2 Monkey Island games and Day of the Tentacle.

You can download the PC as well as the Mac demos for both games on Hulabee Entertainment. Also interesting to mention is that "©2002 Disney" is placed at the bottom of each game page.

SCUMM Rev 3 (pre-alpha) Posted by: Paco | Comments (0)
LucasHacks! has released SCUMM Revisited 3 and although it's only an unsupported pre-alpha version (means it doesn't include most features SCUMM Revisited 2 has), it is certainly worth the download.
This version allows you to rip The Curse of Monkey Island costumes and view Grim Fandango backgrounds. You can download SCUMMRev 3 here and you can find more info at this post on the forum of LucasHacks.

More info on MI bundle Posted by: Paco | Comments (0)
The Scummbar has received some more info about the features of the Australian Monkey Island bundle from Toby.
He also kindly scanned the back and front of the boxart, so be sure to check it out at the Scummbar.

The bundle is also available in South Africa and I would like to thank Dizzy for letting us know that the same bundle is available in New Zealand for $69.95, that's only $20.00 more than EMI alone.
So if you're from Australia, South Africa or New Zealand and you don't own all the MI games, be sure to order it here.

Part 4 of Voodoo Alive Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (0)
I just added the fourth and final part of Joe Townsend's fan novel "Voodoo Alive". Part four is entitled "Guybrush kicks somebody else's butt" and here is a snippet:

The group of 6 (Guybrush, Hans, the Alchemonkey, Vatext, Peg and Keg) paddled with their hands for many hours until they could see Blackflag island just on the horizon.
    "I see it!" Vatext shouted.
"Yes, we all do, Vatext." Keg said in response.
"I've only just realised something..." Guybrush started. "You guys were locked up on LeChuck's ship, so how did you guys rescue me?"

Brand new news script Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (8)
I have replaced the Newspro CGI news script with a new PHP script I have written myself. It is more stable and easier to use. What does that mean for you? Well, not much :) The most important thing is that you now must have a forum account to post comments. This way, you don't have to remember lots of usernames and passwords, your forum account now works for all interactive scripts on (Which is why such an account is conveniently also called a WorldofMI account :)

Unfortunatly, it is impossible to convert the old comments to the new script. You are of course welcome to re-post your comments :)

The archives now finally works as they should and you can still search them by using the search field at the bottom of the page.

If you don't have a forum account, you can sign up for one here.

    Pop-Ups Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (0)
We seem to have a problem with pop-ups at the moment, but it is only temporary. Here is an explanation by our our host, The International House of Mojo:

"Hey, just letting you know that the pop-ups that are appearing are for the most part temporary. There will still be the occasional pop-up in the future (gotta make some money to pay for this thing), but nowhere near the what seems like 75% of all page loads that it is now."

Elaine at #3 Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (0)
The Norwegian newspaper VG has published a list with their choices for the five best female gaming characters of all time. Elaine Marley is placed at number 3. The entire list reads:

    1. April - The Longest Journey
    2. Lara Croft - Tomb Raider
    3. Elaine Marley - Monkey Island
    4. Cate Archer - No One Lives Forever
    5. Joanna Dark - Perfect Dark

You can read the article here if you understand Norwegian, otherwise I have translated the Elaine Marley entry below:

Elaine Marley is the girlfriend - and later the wife - of the main character in the Monkey Island games, Guybrush Threepwood. Elaine was raised among pirates and is very capable of taking care of herself.

She loves Guybrush more than anything in the whole world because of his incompetence. In this relationship it is Elaine that takes care of things.

Gilbert gets #29 Posted by: Paco | Comments (0)
The creator of Monkey Island, Ron Gilbert, earned himself a spot on GameSpy's list of the 30 Most Influential People in Gaming. Here's a snippet from the article:Gilbert was working for the fledgling Lucasfilm Games company at the time, and he was frustrated with text adventures (what he called, "second-guess the parser" games). He had a new idea for laying everything out on the table, making everything clickable on the screen. Your character and environment would be above, and your action verbs would be below. To read the entire article about Ron Gilbert, click here. New fan novel Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (0)
Laura M., author of the novel "A New Adventure", has started writing another fan novel entitled "The Child of Monkey Island". Part 1 is called "The Child" and here is a snippet:

    “Guybrush dear” said Elaine sweetly
“Do you ever think about the future?”
    “How far into the future?”
“Well, maybe we could consider you know having children?”
Guybrush gulped “I don’t think we’re quite ready yet” he quickly tried to change the subject “hey lets go to Blondebeard’s Chicken how about that?”

New fan novel Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (0)
Part 3 entitled "Wild gull chase" of Joe Townsend's novel "Voodoo Alive" has just been added. Here is a snippet:

The small crew of 5 boarded the Spinnermonkey, and waited a few minutes to see if anybody else wanted to board to help save Elaine and Egg.
"Come on." Guybrush said after 5 minutes. "We don't have the time, LeChuck could have Elaine tied up somwhere while wearing a wedding dress." He started getting very panicky and restless. He looked at the others to see if they would see scence. Then the Alchemonkey stood up and said "Guybrush is right. We don't need anymore than this. Guybrush has defeated LeChuck a few times before, I'm sure he can pull it off again."

New Mojo Features Posted by: Paco | Comments (0)
If you haven't checked out our dear host MixnMojo, be sure to take a good look at their two latest features: I Get Made Fun of For Being a LucasArts Fan, by Sarah and of course the brilliant new Cooking with Spaff ! Spaff starts of this week with a lovely pasta dish from Mr.Threepwood himself, Dominic Armato. "Next time we have a tuna bake from Mr Public Relations: Tom Sarris." Already looking forward to it!

New fan novel Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (0)
There hasn't been a new fan novel added in over five months, which is of course mainly due to the four months of downtime we experienced, but also because I have worked on a fan novel script since we came back at the end of December. The script is now done and while it makes it a lot easier for me to maintain and update the fan novels, it also provides you with a way to write a review for the novels or for each individual chapter. You have the option of writing an anonymous review or logging in with your forum account and posting a review as a registered user. Check out the updated fan novels and post a review for your favorite novel!

Let's not forget that a new chapter has also been added today. It's chapter 4 of Victoria Kidston's popular novel "Every Grog Has Its Day". Chapter 4 is entitled "Fun and Games" and here is a snippet:

“Hey!” hollered Guybrush as he hit the back wall of the brig. “I have rights!”
“And lefts as well, I’m sure,” sneered the skeleton. “Shut up, or Captain Tiddlywink will come down here and you don’t want that.” “Well aren’t you cranky,” sulked Guybrush, shooing away the dead rat inspecting his boots. “Why don’t you just take off your monkey suit and EAT IT. You’re really ticking me off, boy.”

Guybrush jumped up and grabbed the window bars in the door. “You know what? I’m not overly fond of you either. You could really use some work on your people skills.”

Check out Chapter 4: Fun and Games and the new fan novel script.

Thanks to Blondebeard for giving me some pointers with the code when I was going crazy and to Paco for helping me test the script.

Yes, it has happened again. We, and the entire Mojo Network, has moved to a new server. New article section! Posted by: Dalixam | Comments (0)
You might remember the "Weekly Article" feature I started almost a year ago. It was very popular, but it didn't work in the long run. I also received several emails from people, who would like to write an article of their own for the site, but unfortunatly, I had to turn them down because it was too complicated and too much work at the time.

However, I then decided to replace the article section with a script that enables everyone, who wants, to write an article and submit it to the site. The idea obviously had to be put on hold while we were down, but the new article section is now ready! You can write your own articles or write comments to articles already in the database. (Both will be approved before added to make sure they don't contain foul laungage etc :)

The articles previously available on this site is of course also stored in the database. Hope to see you in the new article section!
